It’s nice to see a product not filled with silicones but rather proteins, extracts and oils that nourish the hair from the inside out. Awaken Mist by Surface Hair, set to launch in January, has an extensive ingredient list and, fortunately, I am able to pronounce every one.
Amaranth protein thickens fine hair while Babassu Oil and Botanicals condition and detangle. The Color Vita-Complex provides color protection. The product contains certified organic botanicals to naturally treat, condition and style, without any harsh irritants, perfumes or dyes.
Use Wet: Spray onto damp hair prior to detangling, and style.
Use Dry: Thermal Press. Mist onto dry hair, comb and press with flat iron.
I like the consistency of the spray, it was light but still had enough substance and allowed for me to let it air dry today. I even got a compliment on the beach-y texture of my curls.
It has an earth-y mint-y smell to it that doesn’t last long, my hair just smells clean now, but I imagine that is where the awaken part of the name comes from.
The mist claims to add body, which I agree with, and can be hard to do with a thicker consistency product. I feel like my hair built on itself while adding some separation and definition. Great for all hair types.
